The Interstuhl Raumschmiede - an Internal Project
As an expert in New Work and modern workplace design, it is a natural consequence for Interstuhl to set a good example. This is why internal projects are a wonderful way to demonstrate how individual room concepts can be implemented for different areas of the company.
The so-called 'Raumschmiede' ('space forge') is a project that Interstuhl implemented in 2024 with the aim of bringing our planning team, the Inside Sales Concept (ISC) department, with its creative work on individual room solution concepts closer to the place where a large part of the furniture is made: the Gesa joinery.
The Appeal of the Challenge
Before Interstuhl decided to relocate the ISC team's new office, a welcome area, the materials laboratory and a storage and workshop room to the Gesa joinery in the main town of Meßstetten, the premises there served as a sewing workshop and production facility for HUB walls and as break rooms for employees.
Tobias and Jana took on the challenge of developing a new concept for modern office, seminar and recreation rooms from the outdated premises. What was particularly exciting about this task was that an internal project offers a great deal of creative freedom. The aim was to present as many solutions as possible that could also be used for customer projects in collaboration with network partners. In this way, the new office space also became a representative small showroom.
The Realisation
When the Raumschmiede was created, it was not just a question of new furniture, but of holistic spatial planning tailored to the individual needs of the team, which was developed in collaboration with Interstuhl's internal team of craftspeople, the joinery colleagues, the IT department and many other parties involved.
The finished room concept now consists of:
- a cosy welcome area with an individually designed kitchen, planned by Interstuhl's kitchen expert Sonja and manufactured by our joinery Gesa.
- a workshop area furnished with Interstuhl's What If We Fly collection for creative meetings.
- a cosy open-plan office with various zones such as desk-sharing workstations, hubs for concentrated work, soundproofed meeting and telephone boxes and a small lounge area that invites you to relax.
The Result
The finished Raumschmiede is now a real showcase project in which the Inside Sales Concept team con work in a productive and focussed manner. Furthermore, thanks to the new desk-sharing concept, the different work zones can be flexibly booked and used by members of other departments as well.
