JUMO GmbH & Co. KG

Back to the Office and off to New Working Environments

Like so many other companies, JUMO GmbH & Co. KG, a leading company in sensor and automation technology, faced the challenges during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, working from home became more or less mandatory, but many companies also recognised the numerous advantages that remote working has to offer.
As JUMO has been supplied with office chairs from the Interstuhl product portfolio by Interstuhl's specialist retail partner G+S for many years and is supported by both G+S and Interstuhl's regional sales manager, end customers, regional retailers and office furniture manufacturers regularly discussed what working at JUMO could look like in the future.
This resulted in ideas for an exciting New Work concept with desk sharing, creative areas and attractive recreational spaces, which should ensure more effective working and a better sense of well-being. Finally, JUMO entrusted Interstuhl with the planning and implementation of this exciting pilot project.

New Work is Team Work

For JUMO, the focus was on the team and on collaboration. Instead of traditional individual and small group offices, a multifunctional working environment with an open floor plan of around 480 square metres was therefore created.
The new space offers various zoning options - from classic desk-sharing scenarios to work cafés, screened lounge areas and semi-enclosed workshop zones. This redesign encourages interaction between employees during traditional work or creative workshops, while special quiet areas allow for undisturbed and concentrated work.
Incorporating Interstuhl's entire product portfolio, JUMO and Interstuhl have thus created a space concept that meets the needs of the modern working world and focuses on employee satisfaction.

From Planning to Implementation

As already mentioned, JUMO attaches great importance to its team. This is why Interstuhl divided the customer's consulting into various modules. In addition to the interior design planning with needs and inventory analysis and space planning, two workshop formats were therefore organised to involve employees and managers in the project team.
The various facets of New Work and cultural change were analysed in detail with the help of the 'mindshift workshops'. The project team dealt intensively with these topics and worked together to develop forward-looking approaches that are tailored to the specific requirements and framework conditions at JUMO.
In the 'target image workshop', the approaches developed in the mindshift workshop were developed into a concrete mission statement for JUMO. The result of these two workshops produced a comprehensive vision of the future of work at JUMO and provided the basic foundation for the interior design of the pilot area.

The Result

An Interview with JUMO

'The cooperation could not have been more collaborative,' reports Christian Gies, Head of Facility Management at JUMO, in an interview with Interstuhl.
He is grateful for the competent support from the planning to the realisation of the new office concept. Involving Interstuhl as an expert in New Work ensured that aspects and needs were taken into account that might otherwise not have been considered.
'For me, the centrepiece and the heart of this project is definitely the Work Café,' Christian Gies continues. 'The design, the appealing realisation with the appropriate materials that have been mixed here is a very appealing theme for me.' JUMO is very proud of this area and praises Interstuhl, the interior designers and also the suppliers for their excellent work, which has led to such a result.
According to Christian Gies, the selection of the space, which was ideal for such a concept, worked particularly well. 'The provision of Interstuhl's planning capacities was an excellent support (..) and together we have created a space here in which we feel comfortable and in which we enjoy working,' he concludes, tipping his imaginary hat:
'You could tell that everyone involved (..) put their heart and soul into it. There was never a dull moment and we had fun planning and realising this project. So, I can only say 'Chapeau', it was a very nice, trusting collaboration!'
